In a present where one’s own identity is becoming increasingly important for the visibility and relevance of a statement, certain biographies are becoming a privilege: So is appropriating Jewish identity a career advantage? A selling point? Or is it rather the case that statements of this kind are not checked too closely when they are so historically sensitive? Noam Brusilovsky explores these questions in a monologue project and sheds light on the blind spots in German remembrance culture in an increasingly polarized present.

The world premiere will take place on January 29, 2026, at 8 p.m. in the Box at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.

In her production, director Jorinde Dröse focuses on royalty from the past centuries, and lynn t musiol has written a text about one of these iconic royal women.

The world premiere will take place on January 23, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Schauspielhaus of the Niedersächsisches Staatstheater in Hannover.

BLUTBUCH by Kim de l’Horizon

Director and Stage Adaptation: Anna Stiepani

Anna Stiepani—voted Best Young Director of the Year 2024/25 in the critics’ poll by Theater heute—brings her adaptation of Kim de l’Horizon’s novel, winner of the German and Swiss Book Prize, to the stage.

 

The premiere will take place on January 17, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio of the Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen.

Anton Bredow is designing the stage and costumes for the world premiere of Miriam Unterthiner’s play, which won the Hans Gratzer Prize in 2025 and addresses the abuse of power and sexual violence in competitive sports.

The world premiere will take place on January 16, 2026, at 8 p.m. at the Schauspielhaus Wien.

EGAL by Marius von Mayenburg

Directed by Marius von Mayenburg

Simone has built a career for herself. Her partner Erik looks after the children and gets by with editing and translation work. Erik imagines that he is failing on all levels. Simone also feels suffocated. Both bitterly realize that equality and professional success combined with family life are empty promises of capitalism. A gift and a ringing cell phone suddenly turn everything upside down: What is important to them and what doesn’t matter?

The German premiere will take place on January 8, 2025, at 8 p.m. at Ku’damm 156 (Schaubühne Berlin).

THE ADVENTURES OF THE GOOD SOLDIER ŠVEJK based on Jaroslav Hašek

Prague dog dealer Švejk, officially ‘idiotic’ but unofficially brilliant, is thrown into the turmoil of the First World War – and stumbles through a system of authority and abuse of power with disarming naivety. A classic of absurd humour meets the expressive puppet theatre of the Schubert Theatre: with The Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk, director Martina Gredler brings one of the most biting and at the same time funniest novels of the 20th century on stage.

The premiere will take place on 18 December 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at the Schubert Theatre Vienna.

lynn t musiol directs the monologue play Sons, which portrays a family threatened with breaking apart due to the social and political tensions of our time. The focus is on Cathy, a pharmacist from a low-income background who lives with her family in a small French town. In conservative Catholic circles, she finds connections to the wealthy social class, where it seems natural to vote for right-wing conservatives. Her commitment to opposing social change—such as marriage for all—gives her a new sense of purpose, while she increasingly drifts toward right-wing thinking. But her new commitment causes her to lose sight of her family’s well-being. Her sons develop in opposite directions: one becomes radicalized and shows right-wing extremist tendencies, while the other feels compelled to hide his homosexuality from society and his family. Only when the family breaks apart does Cathy realize the suffering she has caused.

The premiere will take place on December 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Schlosstheater Moers (Kapelle).

LECKEN 3000 by lynn T Musiol

An unexpected text message from her former teacher Ute throws Ari off balance. More than ten years ago, the two had a close relationship that Ari still cannot shake off. Now, in her late twenties, she begins to process her memories among her friends and in conversations with Ute, allowing herself to ask a serious question: Was what happened to me back then abuse? Directed by Claus Nicolai Six.

The premiere will take place on 13 December 2025 at 8 p.m. in the Vestibül.

Butcher Oskar loves Marianne and wants to marry her. But even at the engagement party, disaster strikes: Marianne falls head over heels in love with the rogue Alfred, breaking up with Oskar and her old life. It quickly becomes clear that her hopes for a new, grand and, above all, completely different world will not stand up to reality. The initially exciting relationship is followed by social decline. Erich Kästner called his fellow writer’s work ‘a Viennese folk play against the Viennese folk play’.

The premiere will take place on 12 December 2025 at 7.30 p.m. at the Volkstheater Wien.
