Sibyl Kempson (USA)

is a writer and director. Born in New Jersey, USA, she studied Scenic Writing at CUNY Brooklyn College (MFA) and earned a BA in Theatre at Bennington College. Her plays have been performed in the US, Germany, and Norway. In 2015, she has founded her performance company, 7 Daughters of Eve Thtr. & Perf. Co. Their first production LET US NOW PRAISE SUSAN SONTAG premiered at the Abrons Arts Center in NYC in 2015.

In March 2016, she began working on her major interdisciplinary 3-year rite cycle 12 SHOUTS TO THE TEN FORGOTTEN HEAVENS for the Whitney Museum of American Art. Other projects included TRUE PEARL, an opera production with David Lang for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in 2018, and SASQUATCH RITUALS at The Kitchen in NYC in 2018.

Sibyl has worked with various companies including Elevator Repair Service, the David Neuman/Advanced Beginner Group, and Nature Theater of Oklahoma. She teaches experimental performance writing at Sarah Lawrence College and the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne.
