Works

ANOUK & ADOFA

2022

Premiere: Schauspiel Leipzig

„This is a successful comment on contemporary narratives that manages to enshrine achievements such as awareness, self-care, and care work without disparaging them, yet points to problems people have with each other when they want to live together and talk about it.“ – nachtkritik.de (quote originally in German)

Anouk and Adofa are a couple. There is a great intimacy and mutual understanding between the two. They try to realize their lives, their goals and their dreams, even if they repeatedly come up against social limits.
But both are also struggling with their own inner demons and these struggles put pressure on the relationship. With a lot of humor, lightness and great love for Anouk and Adofa, Marco Damghani tells the story of this relationship that leans against the headwind.

The production has been invited to the Autor:innentheatertage 2023 at Deutsches Theater, Berlin.

DIE LEIDEN DES JUNGEN AZZLACK (THE SUFFERINGS OF YOUNG AZZLACK)

2021

Premiere: Schauspiel Leipzig

Young A. grew up here, went to school here, graduated from high school here and studied here. And yet he remains the other, the stranger. A wog. Iranian. Migrant. On the street he is been addressed to in bad English rather than in German and is constantly asked ‘where he is really from’.
In his monologue, A. longs for identity and plays with our assumptions and prejudices, which themselves hide behind cosmopolitanism and woke attitudes.
An account of a youth that was shaped by broken self-positionening and “othering”.
