Erol Afşin (GER/Turkey)

Erol Afşin is an actor, screenwriter and director from Adana in Turkey.

After graduating from high school, he went to Germany and studied acting at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. He has appeared in the US series HOMELAND (Showtime), THE TURKISH DETECTIVE (Paramount+), the award-winning feature films MUSTANG and SAF, the TV two-part series BRÜDER (BROTHERS) (ARD) and can be seen as a series regular in WIR (WE) (ZDFneo), among others.

He is making his debut as a screenwriter and director with ES BRENNT (IT’S BURNING), starring Kida Ramadan and co-produced by Christoph Fisser (Studio Babelsberg). The film will premiere at the Munich Film Festival on June 27, 2023 and is nominated for the New German Cinema Award in three categories: Best Director (Erol Afşin), Best Producing Achievement (Hannes Heidenreich), Best Screenplay (Erol Afşin).

Erol Afşin is currently working on his next feature film CENK, TRÄUME HINTER DEN KULISSEN (CENK, BACKSTAGE DREAMS).
