Heiki Riipinen (NOR)

is a director, actor, costume designer, scenographer and writer working with theatre as an expanded, context-sensitive practice. He holds a BA in Acting from the Norwegian Theatre Academy (2015) and an MA in Directing from The National Danish School of Performing Arts (2023). His work explores themes of power, norms, gender and sexuality through fiction and speculation, aiming to create existential-experimental-entertainment with pop-cultural visuals, po-ethic sensitivities, and political undertones.
His latest piece, MONOMANIA, premiered in February at Spriten Kunsthall. His upcoming premiere is a new staging of the iconic Rocky Horror Show at Oslo Nye Teater.
He has created two pieces at Berliner Ensemble, with the third coming up. His work earlier work has been presented at theaters such as Münchner Kammerspiele, Thalia Theater, Oslo Nye Teater and festivals like Copenhagen Stage, Donaufestival, and GogolFest. He was artistic director at Teater Momentum and house-artist at Teater Freiburg with the collective by Proxy.
He collaborates with groups like Building Conversation, Ariel Efraim Ashbel and Friends, and CUNTS collective, and has a long-standing relationship with Grenland Friteater. He regularly teaches at leading Scandinavian arts institutions and serves on the advisory boards of Porsgrunn Internasjonale Teaterfestival, VælkømINN/Teater Innlandet, and Performing Arts Hub Norway.
