Magda Woitzuck (AT)

is an Author and lives in Lower Austria.
Born to a Polish mother, she grew up bilingual with Polish and German and studied Comparative Literature in Vienna. She writes for radio, theater and film, as well as prose. Her play Cassandra and the Women of Troia premiered at the Melk Summer Games in 2023 and will be produced at the Baden-Württemberg Theater in 2025/2026.
Most recently, her radio play Demeter and the Light (SWR/ORF 2024) and Oh Eurydice – Love Never Ends (SWR/ORF 2023) were released. Oh Eurydice was awarded the Zons Radio Play Prize 2024.
Her 13-part podcast Shit happens – Erinnerungen einer Großdealerin (SWR 2021) was adapted into the play Ich bin Alles – Als mir die Stadt gehörte (I am everything – when the city belonged to me), which was performed at the Volkstheater in the districts in 2023. Based on the podcast and thus based on a true story, Magda is currently developing the TV series RAUSCH that has been invited to the Hamburg Series Lab 2024 and the Co-Pro Series at the Berlinale 2025.
In 2021, her radio play Xerxes and the Voices from Darkness (HR/ORF) was awarded the renowned Prix Marulić in Croatia and the following year the Grand Prix Nova in Romania. Her short radio play Im Winter (ORF 2019) was a finalist for Best European Drama at the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2021. In the same year, the author was nominated for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize. In 2018, her radio play Die Schuhe der Braut was the first Austrian production to receive the German Radio Play Prize of the ARD.
